Ed the Pagan Show #29: Holy War, not Civil War
Ed argues that the United States is not on the brink of a civil war. Instead, he contends that the nation is already engaged in a Christian nationalist holy war.

For more than sixty years, movements expanding personal autonomy and civil rights—for citizens and noncitizens alike—have reshaped American life. In response, Christian Dominionist and aligned theocratic movements have organized a sustained backlash. Today, Ed asserts, those movements are no longer operating at the margins; they are embedded within government itself.

In this episode, Ed lays out why this moment should not be understood as a conventional civil conflict between political factions, but as a focused ideological campaign aimed at dismantling the foundations of pluralistic democracy. The goal, he argues, is not reform but replacement: a return to a dark age in which church doctrine becomes law, overriding constitutional authority, secular governance, and individual freedom.

This conversation reframes the crisis—not as chaos, but as strategy—and asks what it means to confront a war being waged in the name of God.
